How nice it would be if they too could simply go to school by bike, bus or train. MEE op Weg is a project that gives students with disabilities who attend secondary education the opportunity to learn to travel to school independently. Would you like to coach people with disabilities to learn this as a volunteer? As a Travel Buddy you encourage the student to embark on the quest and adventure themselves. You literally and figuratively go with the student on the road, which reduces the step towards independent travel. Support for volunteers A MEE consultant will support you and the student during the practice process. This consultant ensures that you get to know each other, supports you in creating the MEE op Weg plan and you can contact her with all your questions. The MEE consultant gives tips on how to coach the student, provides information about the student's disability so that you know what to take into account and gives ideas about useful tools that can be used, such as photos or a transport app. the telephone. How much time? It is not possible to say in advance exactly how many times a student will need to learn to travel independently. Sometimes practicing twice is enough, sometimes practicing 15 times is necessary. On average, a Travel Buddy goes out with a student 10 times, with practice at least once a week. You and the student agree on how often and at what time during the week you will practice.
